Reasons why fund raising is essential
« on: May 13, 2010, 06:19:23 pm »

There are many reasons why fund raising has become essential for our continuing efforts to support and assist wrongly accused/convicted people and their families. Thus far we have done a considerable amount but it is fair to say that our efforts have been restricted in certain areas because all of the work that we have done has been both voluntary and at our own expense. Indeed we have refused contributions from people many times simply because it has never been, nor ever will be our intention to profit from the misfortune of others.

It is however a fact that our efforts require considerable time and expense, the cost of travel alone whilst visiting all those in need has become quite restrictive and much more could be done if funding was available. This of course is but one such expense, printing costs and the expense incurred simply as a result of the many letters which are necessary unfortunately does not come cheaply either.

The issue of time negates any possibility of taking on paid work to fund what we do through wrongly accused person.

We have considered the possibility of government funding, however this comes at a very restrictive cost. Many of the things we currently do, which are greatly appreciated by those we help would not be possible if we were to go down this route for political reasons. It is therefore necessary that we find ways to be self sustaining without depending on outside organisations or departments which would impose such restrictions on our activities.

I have spoken with my family and it is agreed there will be no easter eggs for the kids from me this year, and it should go to a worthy cause, so I will paypal a donation in the next couple of weeks.  Every little helps  ;)

I sure do, it's in the fund raising tab above, but here's the direct link - Locks Off - all the relevant details are there  :)

No one has been brave (or silly) enough to volunteer as yet but sponsor sheets are available and I'll be putting up an updated picture soon on the events page - http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=166131160096764
