Advice please re web presence and caseblog
« on: November 04, 2010, 09:38:25 pm »

Good evening folks

Apologies for my lack of IT ' know how '

Comment has been passed to me about the value of a web presence and a caseblog.
Without taking too much of someone's valuable time, could you pass on advice re setting up a web presence and a caseblog.
What if anything is there to refer to  i.e. info onthe web or written material.

Thanks in anticipation

Roger Stevenson, supporting Andrew Hill

PS Have a look at a group on Facebook titled ' Andrew Hill did not kill Dr Shawcross '

Hi Roger, I have no idea how to set up a caseblog lol but if you go to the top of the page, under battle, and click caseblogs you can visit moj cases and see how they have been set up and the content of information that has been provided for each individual case.  By reading them it will give you an idea as to all the factual information that you would need to collate before a caseblog was set up.  :)

Hi Roger

As HaveHope and nugnug suggest, Blogging looks one good way to start. Try 'Caseblogs' at the top of this page, and have a look at what 4 others have made of blogging. Such specialised or niche blogging, already has massive traffic, and that traffic is likely to increase in coming years.

Blogging allows you to provide yourself with a presence around your interest. That's a public domain presence; for you're putting down stuff that others might relate to and engage with. Its also a psychological presence, and that very much for you as an individual and person; you can express and create yourself through what you write and create as a blog.
Its also an office and a filing cabinet. Issue based projects (such as miscarriages of justice) end huge, going off in all whichway directions. Its good to be able to 'put things down', and then carry on less encumbered by them.
A lot of reflection can be done across blogs. Becoming involved in MOJ, sees you take on the massivity of a collective Goliath, and the titanium armour of public indifference. Sometimes being an advocate against MOJ can be the saddest, loneliest and most viscerated of things. It can help to put that down in blog.
Blogging allows for viewers to leave 'comments'.

Web-presence can be established on forums, which are free. I use Proboards. [This Board Hosted For FREE By ProBoards
Get Your Own Free Message Boards & Free Forums! Terms of Service | Privacy Policy | Report Abuse | Mobile], but there are other providers. Just put proboards into google, or into your browser as an 'address'.
Choose a name for your forum. Set yourself as 'administrator'. Create threads of topics on your forum, as this forum has done. And off you go. Your forum develops through what you post, and what contributors and 'members' post. How things go is then down to serindipity, and how good you are at making your forum interesting. Even if few post, you might end with many more readers of what is posted.
At the least you can keep Andrew Hill's case in the public domain. If things go better, you and others can gradually contribute to making a compelling case against his conviction. Along the way of that you are likely to network with others in the MOJ community and culture. I think there is now a 'university of MOJ', in the sense that people speak of the university of life; so something of a learning which can take place across simply becoming something of a MOJ activist.

My interest in the Luke Mitchell MOJ, has definitely streamed into me studying psychology. Others have pursued MOJ while studying forensics or law.

My sincere thanks to Havehope, nugnug and especially Colin for your advice.
Just how long it will take me to get started amidst everything else that's going on in my life, well I don't know at the moment.

But do it I must for the sake of Andy !

Roger, you here put your finger on the twin pulses of MOJ activism. It does prove challenging to do MOJ stuff "amidst everything else that is going on in my life". Equally there can be the deepest of senses that "I must do it for the sake of Andy". Ultimately, doing what you must proves transformative and enriching. Good luck with whatever you end doing; and do draw the others you meet on forums such as this, into your own particular MOJ project.
