Now freed, but you might be interested in his case
« on: June 26, 2010, 09:11:48 pm »

This is a case which is close to my heart, because I was close friends with someone closely involved...the accused was freed by court of appeal after the CCRC forwarded his case, but I thought it still makes interesting reading, not least because Adam is willing to help others who he met in prison...

this is a better write up, from before he was cleared

Well i think that makes it very clear indeed on exactly what power the CCRC/SCCRC has and how they maintain a large clear and consice perspective when dealing with crimes.

yep, I'm learning... I have nothing but admiration for anyone who can find their way through the quagmire of 'law', it's almost as difficult as economics!

Interesting case Sturisoma, i posted an article on this case last year on my Facebook.

Wishing Andrew Adams all the best trying to adjust to life after miscarriage of justice.

This case is a perfect example of not only how wrongful convictions can be obtained in the first place, but the stalling and stonewalling that goes on in the attempts to get the case properly reviewed. The CCRC/SCCRC may not be perfect, but I, for one, am glad they exist - the court of appeal is far, far too restrictive in the approach it takes.

Incidentally, I have passed the details of this case to a family facing some similar issues, in the hope that it will provide evidence of certain precedents which were set when returning this case to the CCRC, so many thanks for posting it!!!

perhaps it's just me, but the real 'story' behind the 'witness statements' is so obvious it's laughable. Hints of '...a woman scorned' and all that.
