I think a new thread would be an excellent idea, I'm just not sure where to locate it. I am sure Billy will be able to offer some advice to us all in that respect.

I think the judicial system in this country and I mean the UK as a whole,  needs a good kick up the backside! (sorry about the pun)

John I want to start a petition to number 10 to get things moving on this exact issue. It can't go on any longer! Too many innocent men & women are in our prisons whilst the real culprits walk free.
So many are being wrongly accused even though the evidence points away from them. The media, in my opinion of course are not helping in any of this...
I know thousands that will sign said petition and I also know many of these will act on it and come to 10 downing street......
I wondered if you had any suggestions?
I was hoping this petition could be "generic" in order to help bring everyone together and to cover the vast issues we are all faced with.

Any suggestions are welcome...

Gordan Park & his family deserve justice, as do all the many other thousands wrongly accused and locked up and their families!

In the first instance, the victims and their families should not be allowed to have to suffer like they do.

I have moved the thread you started to the "Your chance to shape the future justice system" topic and congratulate you on starting the ball rolling on a petition to reform the justice system. I will of course be signing it when it is complete and would encourage everyone else to do like wise.

In general, you are better to start new threads for issues which are not directly associated with any others though as with here, discussion can and often does lead off in different tangents making knowing when to continue in the current thread and when to start a new one a little less clear.

I don't think anyone should be too concerned about this though, it is after all easy enough to move posts and threads afterwards, the most important thing is to get the information out in public.

Personally I think a link to the thread featuring the wording of a petition should be posted on all case topics since the state of British justice is responsible for them all and reform is long overdue. I also think when the petition has begun a link directly to it should be posted in all case topics to ensure it is as widely publicised as possible.

Keep up the good work.

When I first noticed the topic there was only one post in it which was the link which remains there now with no other details around it. It must have been while you were posting the subsequent reply which detailed the intention to create one rather than it already being available that I was in the process of moving the topic to the correct thread in the admin area. I was however very busy with other unrelated matters at the time, as a result my posts were sent significantly later than when I had begun them and it appears much has been going on during this time. I did not realise when responding to this post that the petition had not yet been set up but as I said believed that it was already operational and hence wanted to draw people's attention to it.

I have updated my related posts accordingly and hope that members will indeed participate in debate to help draft the wording of the petition.

I never met Gordon personally, although we did exchange letters. I met his wife, son and daughter in law though - a really lovely family, so terribly sad.

I just hope they keep up the pressure to have Gordon's name cleared.

whats happing with gordon park are his family still going to take his conviction to appeall.

Sorry for the delay in replying to this post but I didn't want to post without first checking. This year has as you know been a terrible one for Gordon Park's family though it has always been expressed that they will never give up trying to have his conviction recognised as a miscarriage of justice and a wrongful one.

I have today received an e-mail regarding the walk free campaign which will now include Gordon's case but obviously under the circumstances care needs to be taken to ensure it is kept respectful to all concerned. What location is used to mark the case, or how we go about it is as yet undecided.

However I think it is fair to say that if it is at all possible for Gordon's wrongful conviction to be recognised as such everything that can be done, will be done to ensure it.

Sadly, putting his family and friends before himself as always, on his 66th birthday, Gordon took his own life. Our thoughts are with his family.

Was such a tragedy.   I hope his family find the strength to take it all the way to get Gordon's name cleared.  Admin, do you know if they have people/supports in place to assist them in taking it forward?

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you HaveHope. Gordon's family have a tremendous amount of support available to them yes, not least United Against Injustice and Innocent. Obviously if there's anything at all we can do to support them or help take things forward we will.
