MAY 2011 LETTER

Dear Members,
Well firstly I want to say sorry to you all for not writing in a couple of months, but we have been so busy with trying to get a fresh appeal and the independent case study we’ve had done on all the stuff we have found & the report has unearthed some evidence that will shock even the people who don’t believe I’m innocent, I mean we’ve known all along the police have stitched me up with fabricating evidence,....(Read the letter in full on his facebook group)

Campaigners in £60,000 bid to free killer

Quote
A campaign group is offering a £60,000 reward for information that results in the release of convicted murderer Nick Rose.

Rose, from Ilfracombe, was found guilty of the murder of teenager Charlotte Pinkney in 2005. The 17-year-old disappeared from the North Devon town after a party on February 28, 2004.......

Reward To Back Nick Rose's Appeal

Quote
A £60,000 reward's being offered by an elusive local web site company for information leading to the quashing of the murder conviction against Nick Rose.

The scaffolder from Ilfracombe was jailed for life after being found guilty of 16 year old Charlotte Pinkney's  murder by a majority verdict of 11 - 1 at Exeter Crown Court in February 2005.

It was a year after Charlotte went missing. Despite extensive police searches her body has never been found.

The prosecution case relied on forensic and circumstantial evidence.

Judge Graham Cottle ordered Rose to serve a minimum of 20 years. He said that failure to reveal where the body lay was the most serious "aggravating feature".

And, he said, Miss Pinkney's parents were denied the opportunity of their child having a proper burial and "can never rest until they know what happened to their child".

Since then Rose has continued to protest his innocence and various campaigns, including a Facebook page, have been  set up in his support.

Our reporter Wendy Buckingham has been talking to Rose's mother Kay Rose.  She says the reward being offered by AA Web Design is very welcome (link to audio interview)

She's hopeful that there will be a retrial and that new evidence will eventually come to light which will result in her son being freed.

The handbag found near the car, was there any prints on it?

Did the boyfriends drug charge get dropped, what happened?

The bag was found about 20 minutes walk away from the car and apparently had no prints or DNA on it. Now, that's from the investigation files of course and while it may be that the elements had played a part in it....

Her boyfriends drug related charges were dropped soon after Nick's appeal failed.

20 minutes walk away from the car  :-0  I wouldn't class that near to the car.

Elements or not I would have thought that there would have been some sort of trace especially inside the bag.

The boyfriend, why am I not suprised that his charge was dropped.  ::)

Well, I thought the same about the inside but there you go, good thorough investigation and all that. ;)

I'm not surprised the charges were dropped either but I'm intrigued as to why it was left hanging over him until after the appeal   ???

And talking of cars, anyone care to guess what you'd find in three second hand cars? Thanks to Top Gear you can find out ....   http://www.topgear.com/uk/videos/the-boys-buy-used-convertible-fourseaters-part-2-series-16-episode-4

5 strong defence witnesses, claiming to have seen Charlotte in the days AFTER the prosecution claim Nick Rose has murdered her, were told they must have been mistaken   :-0

I can't seem to get my head around this case at all.  :-H  These witnesses are adamant they saw Charlotte and the drug dealing boyfriend, at various places, AFTER the alleged murder took place and other witnesses also came forward, after the trial saying similar.  All of them seem to be able to nail the reason how and why they know exactly what date/day they saw Charlotte but yet their evidence is disregarded.

As for the 42 year old drug dealer and his relationship with a 16 year old drug user, who am I to judge, BUT it seems he was kept as a puppet on a string for nearly 2 years until NR's appeal failed before the drugs charge disappeared.

The more you read, the more it raises more questions than answers, another case to frazzle the brain.

Been having a proper look at nicks case.
This from his website

http://www.nick-rose.co.uk/The-Case

The witness Charlene Bettis said she saw Charlotteher in Dean Phillip's car in the high street on the Tues 2nd March, there was CCTV in the high street, but the police said they viewed it & erased it, they said his car was not there, but i'm sure they would have kept that piece of footage to back themselves up, they could not even tell me the name of the officer that viewed it, they said it was down to costs, which is rubbish....

Why would they possibly erase it!? Why not keep it to say "there look, nothing". It could serve no purpose to do this, in fact, it looks downright suspicious that they did.

Also from the above website

The prosecution told the court that Nick murdered Charlotte before 6.30 on the morning of 28 February. At about 12.30 the same day a boy who knew Charlotte saw her walking towards the centre of town. At 1.00 pm Brett Holford, landord of the Victoria pub in Ilfracombe saw Charlotte in his pub. At 3.00 pm Ronald Townsend saw Charlotte in the same pub. Later that day Martin Watts saw Gus O’Brien with a girl in the street. When shown a photo of Charlotte, he said he was ninety-nine per cent certain that the girl was Charlotte. Charlene Bettis, who knew Charlotte well, saw her at 4.20 pm on 2 March in Ilfracombe Town centre.

Thats a lot of witnesses to her being alive after she was supposed to have been killed.

And how many times have we heard this

The prosecution insisted all these witnesses were mistaken: Charlotte was already dead. They said that the Victoria pub witnesses were confusing Saturday 28 February with Saturday 21 February. But on 21 February, Charlotte spent the day in a pub on the other side of town, in the company of a number of her friends. Unfortunately these friends were not called to give evidence at Nick’s trial.

Why not?

I think you've answered your own question there Hazel, happens all the time. Just the usual, don't need to prove anything theory, though I think there was a last minute change in QC too.

It's "Leave a supportive comment for Nick Rose Day" tomorrow. His comment's page is here -
